 My hand is actually OK.  The earlier pain seems to have been a bruise that has now
 healed, and the X-ray shows an old avulsion fracture to my left index finger ... there
 is no need to treat that either, I am just intrigued to know what caused the swelling
 in the finger.  As I suspected, I also have mild arthritis in some finger joints.  :nerdy:
