Do you remember before the internet, that it was thought the cause of collective stupidity was the lack of information?Well...it wasn't that.

Still waiting on my first choice, but the question of whether or not I will be pursuing a legal education is now answered.I don't know why I am sharing this here. I guess I don't think this particular topic can devolve into dramatic statements and callouts over minutiae, but you all have a chance to prove me wrong. Lawyers are EVILLL!!!! We must kill you before you become one! Lots of people express that sentiment. I don't buy it. The 6th amendment augments the 5th amendment to a huge degree. Of course if you want to put your life and liberty where your mouth is you could elect to represent yourself in court if you are ever charged with a felony. In Stalin's USSR there were not any pesty lawyers giving any real counterpoint to government accusations.

People who bash lawyers tend to stop if they are ever charged with a crime or if they need the services of an attorney for some other reason. Personally, I think they're great.
Many Lawyers are so narcissistic that they don't need the profit motive to do a good job, feeding their egos is all that they need to be motivated.

Also, you seem to think that all lawyers are wealthy. Some are while others aren't.
I have no idea. My experience so far is in insurance law. I would love to work for a non-profit like the ACLU, but by the time I graduate I will owe $140,000 in student loans and non-profits can't pay a living wage when you have that much debt. This is why lawyers are expensive.
