Cash Goes Up For Grabs As Courier Loses Bags In TrafficUpper St. Clair Police Say Six-Figure Sum Missing In Route 19 AreaUPPER ST. CLAIR, Pa. -- Someone got a big payday when more than $100,000 fell out of a courier van in traffic shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday. "Drivers of a Fidelity Courier Service van were alerted by a passing motorist that bags of money were falling from the rear door of the vehicle as it traveled southbound on Route 19," Upper St. Clair police said in a statement. The couriers went back and found some of the cash, "but plastic bags containing well into six figures of cash disappeared from the roadway as motorists began to congregate," police said. A search for the money was conducted in the area of McLaughlin Run Road near Route 19. "There were $20 bills, $50 bills just swirling in the air. I think there was a good deal of confusion. It's only understandable that people would just start picking up this money," said Lt. James Englert. Fidelity Courier has offered a reward. Anyone with information about the missing money is asked to call police at 412-833-7500.
