Scared of flying, so if I did have to take a flight, I wouldn't watch anything that involved plane crashes.

:D
do it!!!

one time me and my brother flew, we had just watched it, and the landing gear wouldnt deploy
our first thought was "holy shit fireball explosion landing yay"
then the captain told us they would now circle for a while (2 hours) and we explained to an old lady next to us how circling=fuel-dumping, in order to avoid a fireball explosion landing :D
it turned out well tho, the wheels came out by themselves after 2 hours of circling :]

No way. If I done that, I would have a panic attack before I even got on the plane :-[

If I had to fly, I would probably take a handfull of valium before I got to the airport, and spend the whole flight in a happy daze. I would hopefully be too wasted to care if I die in a massive fireball

awwww :D im paradoxally too realistic to be afraid of flying and too realistic to feel completely safe. then again, i feel similarily when riding w friends in a car. in fact, i often feel genuinely more nervous in a car w someone seemingly irresponsible, than i do in an airplane.
cars: get totalled, everyone inside dies, in worst case. in good cases, you can just crawl out and brush the dust off.
airplanes: explode, everyone inside disintegrates. in good cases however, you can crawl over dead bodies, jump through the flames, and get out alive.
boats: sink. blub blub... survival depends on luck (getting on rafts + not dying of hypothermia while waiting for further resque)
trains: they SEEM heavy and sturdy, but whenever they crash - since they are tracked, you end up with the famous "trainwreck" scenario. everybody fucking dies.

so far, the BUS seems to be the safest way to travel. it doesnt fly around itself off the tracks if it crashes, and usually it destroys whatever poor foe it happens to crash into (most other vehicles are smaller than buses)
the only bus-disasters i can think of are those that for-some-reason drive off cliffs. that seriously has to suck :I

I tend to stay away from it the night before a flight, tbh.

I know there's a chance I could get killed in any vehicle, and I mostly drive one of the most dangerous. A scooter.

I'm not so much scared of dying in a plane crash. I'm more scared of the minutes when I know the plane will crash, and I'm likely going to die, and just having to st there and wait for death, possibly painfull death.
At least in my bike or car, the crash will be sudden.

Ferries very rarely seem to sink in the first world. Most of the time I hear of a boat sinking, it's either one in a poorer country, or some kind of little mini-boat, like the ones they use for parties.
I'm not sue if there's been a ferry sink in Britain in my lifetime, although there was a huge one in I think the 80s

There was a ferry disaster in the 90's, when the Swedish ferry Estonia sank.

estonia and the scandinavian star, both sank, and both made for quite horrific losses, altho estonia wins there if i remember correctly.

it reminds me of these overloaded ferries in the third world...

hell, everything's overloaded over there. a car crash in india, and you got like 30 injured and 14 dead

The Scandinavian Star didn't sink, it burned.

Why not I remember watching one of the Airport movies the night before back when I still flew. I don't fly now because of all the people and security, I would go up in a private  plane any day

Any crowded places set me into a panic these days let alone being trapped in a metal cylinder with a bunch of people.  The older I get the less tolerant I am of people in general.  As for it being a problem I don't go many places I would need to.  Last year I drove 5000 miles round trip to a wedding in Vegas this year to Florida 2500 round trip. I prefer it that way

if i had a license and a car, then i would totally aggree with you. solitude over crowded chaos anytime.
but i still cope 100 times better in an airport than a shopping mall, for example. in the airport im much more in my own "zone"
