Or, when female, it indicates where you are in your menstrual cycle.  :finger:

They are gross. For some reason I've never come across them, even when working on old houses.

It's not so much as old houses it's dirty houses and not always that they hitchhike from place to place in bags and boxes and are very difficult to get rid of.  So you could get a box from a not so clean place that could have some or their eggs in it.  I am very careful when I get stuff that I am going to sell from questionable places, I check it thoroughly and sometime spray it just in case.  Powdered boric  acid kills and repels them as well as ants and fleas sprinkle it about in cracks behind cabinets and under the fridge and such.  It's also about as toxic as table salt to people so it's pretty safe

That's why I posted the link to a Wikipedia entry about canker sores.   :orly:

Cold sores (herpes zoster) can spread to other places, also to the gums.
One of the worst places it can spread to is the eye.
Very important to stay away from babies when having a cold sore too, or wear protective mask. On a new-born the infection can become very large, and dangerous.

Watch the salty, high acid foods which will make them hurt worse, certain foods will cause them for me. They can be a sign of a food allergy, so you might want to keep tabs on when they occur and what you've ate beforehand.

Used to get them on my tongue when I ate walnuts, painful, but never stopped me from eating them until one day they covered my tongue, the roof of my mouth and my throat.

Most of the properties I buy come from auction, and most of them are either repossesions or houses where an old person has died and the executer of the will has put the house into auction.
Most of them are totally filthy when I got to them. I've even had one that lay boarded up for over a decade.

I hear Americans talking about cockroaches a lot, but I don't think I've ever heard anyone from Scotland mention having them. I can only assume we don't have as big a problem with them. They seem to be rare.
Mice on the other hand...

actually... i believe cold sores are caused by a strain of the herpes virus.... just saying. canker sores are on the inside of your mouth. dont know what causes them but they are not contagious unlike the first. as far as getting rid of the second. i usually just swill mouth wash for a day or two and it clears right up.

                                                         Zippo, Shotgun Surgeon.
if theres bees in the trap im catching them, by the thorax and abdomen. and sanding there stingers down to a rough quill. then i dip em in ink and i scribble a bit, and if the wriggle than i tickle them until they hold still, let me say it again, in my land of pretend, i use bees as a mother fucking pen!

Mouthwash is helpful because it will kill any bacteria that might be irritating it.
Check the ingredients on your toothpaste. Most toothpastes contain sodium lauryl sulfate or sodium laureth sulfate, both of which don't cause canker sores but can irritate them, so try to fiind one without that to use when you have cold sores. Usually the baking soda toothpastes don't have those ingredients.
Avoid acidic foods touching your canker sore. Rinse immediately after eating.
I really don't know if the lysine helps, but it does help with cold sores.
It can't hurt to take some things to boost your immune system - vitamin C, olive leaf, echinacea.

Cockroaches are a rare sight over here. Never seen one in my life.

Same for rats in any house I've been in, must be the more stricter building regulations here that helps keep them out or something.

Cochroaches like warm conditions. The only places you wll likely find them in Britain is hospitals and restaurants and not the big bastards you see here, nor the proliferation.
I2 today is not i2 of yesteryear. It is a knitting circle. Those that participate be they nice or asshats know their place and the price to be there. Odeon is the overlord

Think it is I2 of old? Even Odeon is not so delusional as to think otherwise. He may on occasionally pretend otherwise but his base is that knitting circle.

Never seen a rat in a house, but have had problems with mice in properties in both Scotland and NI.

The house I live in now was infested with mice when my cousin bought it, although it was practically derelect at the time.
