I have bad taste when it comes to choosing the right presents for certain people.

I think most people do get it wrong, at least occasionally.  That's why money is an awesome gift as Schleed said!   :2thumbsup:

I just tell people to give me money. That way I can choose my presents.

In our family, it's nothing but giving each other money most of the time when it comes to special occasions. Although for Christmas I usually want the Doctor Who season box set, and that's usually $100, the amount I would get anyway in cash.
Existence actually has two broad meanings despite its apparent meaningless. The constant reconciliation of all its parts, and the conservation of any closed system as a whole.

Morality can be extrapolated from these meanings to make these two commandments of godless morality: 1). Be in harmony with one another and 2). Care for the environment.

My sisters and I agreed a few years ago to stop buying Christmas gifts for each other and just buy for the kids.

It was the year we all got each other the same exact gift.

The girls and I give eachother small gifts for St Nicolas. Not more than €5 each. We have the party for fun, silly poems, and if we have time enough, funny wrappings too.

Best present I got was a few years ago, when the girls made me a colouring book.
I can do upside down chocolate moo things!

I got real lead painted toy soldiers right up until I was about 20 from my father because when I was like 12 I liked them and he enjoyed buying them for some reason :dunno:

When I was 13 or 14, my godmother got me a knitted winter hat with "Hi!" embroidered on the front,
and "Bye!" embroidered on the back.  As if I didn't already get enough shit from my peer group.

my mother used to give gifts to manipulate me into careers.
so when i was very small i got a doctor kit which i "used" to dissect my sisters' dolls.
i got lots of books which i loved but which gave no clue as to what she wanted.
this finally stopped some years ago when she decided that i wasn't going to finish my phd so she bought network administration and A+ classes for me. i drove through the winter to the classes which were in new york city - manhattan. 16 weeks, every weekend, while i also worked on my dissertation.
i finished the class and about 10 months later defended my dissertation.
