The trick is to look and sound official, if you give the impression that you are supposed to be doing what you are doing people rarely ask to many questions. Where I used to work I was what was called the 'clean up' guy I went around fixing things and picking up extra materials and equipment sometime $5000 worth or more I drove an unmarked white or brown van, it was rare for anyone to question me about what I was doing.
Sound like you could have stolen lots of stuff.

How long is a Social Security number? Is everyone meant to remember their own?

It's nine digits and most adults do memorize their own Social Security number and maybe the one of their spouse as well.  I can't remember my daughter's without looking it up, though.

List them here and they'll be conveniently available the next time you need them. :zoinks:

I can remember all the numbers just   I can never get in the right order no matter how hard I try.
And yes I could have stolen so much stuff and can see how people do it and get away with it, just I could never bring myself  do it and if I did it would never stop bothering me.

Does this explain how a couple of German Regiments were able to conquer Norway in WW II??

That's seriously fucked up. People are such sheep. :sheep:

The biggest flaws of humanity right there. Most people have the "herd mentality" and it's the psychopaths who are the shepherds. Always.

norway held out for 3 months, which is _very impressive_, for the nations size, compared to germany.
during ww2 norwegians KNEW about death and pain. my grandfather grew up with rows of hanged pow's down the road to his school (it was next to a military camp, which was demilitarized only a few years back)
even during the 80s, when i was little, norwegians were aware of the real dangers of the world.

i guess the symptom of dumbness is western-wide, but naiveness abound here due to our great wealth and safety.
our oil-wealth came about in the 60s and 70s

a social experiment on tv showed a "reporter" approaching people, simply stating "hi. i am here to control your life. give me your social security number"
most people asked would barely protest once, before surrendering their social security number to someone not giving any reason better than "in order to control you better"

he asked what they voted for, he asked the names of family and friends, and people gave it all up. they looked uncomfortable, they tried to protest at most once per question, but it took almost nothing to make them give it up.

ive often joked that you can mug people without any weapon in norway, and ive often suspected it would be possible for real as well, just walk up to someone and demand they surrender their wallet, "just cus"

we REALLY need a waking up, as a nation :(
our naiveness shows in other aspects of society, such as how people are being so forgiving of breivik and his massacre. ive long complained how naive we are, compared to other countries, but i really didnt expect people to actually surrender their social security number to some random douchebag telling them to so he can "control them better" :S

So, instead of "Stockholm Syndrome", they should rename it "Oslo Syndrome"??    :dunno:
