That's awful. I wonder if people here would refuse to hand over their social security numbers?
im curious as well.
another very interesting thing is a french docu, where they replicated an old cia experiment, where contestants are put to electrocute an unseen counter-contestant, for each "incorrect answer" they provide.
the contestants in the updated french version are led to believe they are trying out a new game show.
the hidden actor screams "in agony", and eventually begins to scream for mercy, "let me out! i dont want to play anymore!"
while a host urges the electrocutioner to continue.
eventually, the actor will quiet altogether, as if dead or severely injured, and upto 70% of the contestants - although in enormous emotional turmoil by then - would keep electrocuting what they now believed was a lifeless person.
in other words, 70% of normal civilians will - against their will, and in great emotional distress - kill someone - for a tv game show.
after each session, the contestants got to meet the actor (who was of course unharmed), and many broke down in tears. one of the FEW who had refused to hurt him any further, couldnt even look at him, and he had to convince her repeatedly that there had never been any real harm done, and that she had performed extraordinary in actually refusing to continue the experiment.
