REM were a great band, but that was years ago. I love most of their old stuff. Think they've made the right desicion by breaking up, but I think the right time would have been around 10 years ago.

Not every band can be doom metal.  Some of them have to be successful.

They aren't boring because they aren't doom metal. They are boring because there's nothing interesting about their music.

I don't like music centered around lyrics, music that tries to convey a "message". That's just the way I feel. Until I discovered metal, the only music I liked was video game music (like on the Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, etc.)

Apparently they have a new album coming out and are going back to the Mechanical Animals sound a bit.
I'm not holding my hopes up but hopefully there'll be something good from it.
