What have you done today? (Pt 2)

Sleeping in, funny waking with the girls. Breakfast. Slow start, and still slow, when attacking the kitchen. Did some grocery shopping too. Cooked a simple, but good dinner. Very lazy day.

Took PA to buy a pair of shoes.

Do you know how big a 13 Extra Wide is?  It's a 46 1/2 in Europe and a 12 in the UK.

I know how big that is.

I used to fit, with extra wide shoes on my feet, in my father's shoes.

Oh, I returned long overdue books to the library too today.

  and utterly silly.

We had read them all, for weeks and weeks. The fine would have been better used, buying nice ice-cream for three.

Not everyone could afford to have an ice-cellar in the backyard. And without a thing like that, making ice-cream in summer would have been impossible. (Unless you live close to a natural 'everlasting' supply)

In Sweden people used to saw out big blocks of ice from lakes in the winter and store them in the cellar in heaps of sawdust until the 1920s at least. Iskarl was a special occupation

First getting that ice-cellar filled, and, then in summer, selling and transporting huge blocks of ice.
