What have you done today? (Pt 2)

Dryer finally bit the dust. Now I have wet laundry draped all over the house and this afternoon we made an excursion to look at new models.

We've done that.
Fortunately, as recovering photographers, we had a zillion stands and cross bars to create makeshift hangers inside the garage.
We got by that way through the winter for a bit and it made it even harder to dispense with all that old gear we "no longer needed."

We bought high dollar replacements for our laundry needs and found they break as readily as the shit ones we used to have to buy. Not sure how to advise. We spent $1000 on a dryer that had to have $300 service about three months after the warranty expired.

The guy in the store said that pretty much all brands, even the "good" ones, now have planned obsolescence after 7-10 years. You just can't get 25 year models anymore. They're also all full of fancy electronics, you can't get mechanical controls. He showed me ones that have wifi, ones that will contact the company of their own accord when they need a part, and the soonest you'll hear of it is when the technician calls you to schedule an appointment.

Fucking hell.

Went to the optometrist. There's a new one there, young Asian lady who knows her stuff. My eyesight usually confuses people at first. Not her though. My right eye needs a slightly stronger lens for distance but otherwise, no change.

Had a barrel fire with all the sticks that fell over the winter and also burned up a book of unused checks from a bank account I no longer have
Took both dogs for a walk

I've spent the past two evenings polishing all the brass drawer pulls from our bedroom dressers and nightstands. They look great and Sugarbutt is super impressed.

Today I cut up a honeydew melon which I bought last week. It's way to early for melons but I took a gamble anyway, and turns out it's perfect, sweet, tender and juicy. It was probably grown in a hothouse, but definitely picked at the right time. Yum.

Had a house inspection (hoping they'll fix the side gate) and they're going to organise a time with me and Kayleigh to discuss how we're going cope with renovations. Apparently we're not the only tenants to express concern over it. I'd like to have the renovations over and done with, especially the floor because it looks terrible the way it is now.

Also worked for the autistic guy in Armadale. He's super stressed and angry with his property manager not getting back to him about a patio proposal. No one's happy!
