Finished clearing that minefield. And managed to sneakily get the drop on some git lying prone in a sniper's nest who was packing a rocket launcher. Really not someone I wanted to try and just shoot it out at long range trading shots with. So I sent someone through a load of buildings, crawling on all fours and sneaked up behind the little sod, until I got within a couple of feet of the guy with the rocket launcher and put two shotgun blasts into him. Result-scratch one very dangerous enemy-he had the rocket launcher that has a horrendously long range and does an awful lot of damage (expect instant kill on most targets) and was carrying a double-barreled shotgun as a sidearm for anyone who tried to close in. Managed to get to him without him ever knowing the lone soldier was coming for him and put a pair of shells in his ass before he had a hope in hell of retaliating.
And captured his rocket launcher, took the shotgun he was carrying, and for good measure, a few shells and 50 7.62mm rounds. Although the work isn't done yet. Got a few more bodies to loot, and that minefield, all those mines are to be taken, since they can be sold for a decently high price, as well as a few kept for those occasions when facing nasty, tough buggers like deathclaws (think highly intelligent, buggering great big lizard with claws as long as a man's arm that can tear through armor like it were paper, fast, much bigger than a grown man, yet sneaky as sneaky gets, able to take out entire squads of NPC troops without them ever knowing the deathclaw was there, one by one, ghosting them.
And to make matters worse they are built like tanks, able to take an awful lot of punishment before going down, even from heavy weapons fire. The one saving grace about deathclaws is that they are just TOO big to use weapons. They ARE one, they are living weapons, but they can't use firearms and have to close in for melee combat. Which can mean, if you see one from a distance, that you'll get a chance to boobytrap a door with a couple of anti-tank mines or run your team down a dark alley dropping several mines, one on top of the other at the end where the deathclaw would have no choice but to go if its to get to the troops. meaning ideally that they can concentrate on accurate sniper fire to cripple it's legs and blind it before it gets up close and personal.
