It helps if they're surrounded by trees.

I like that design style, but I also like the ingeniousness of Japanese modern house design where the windows are all placed in such ways that the daylight streams in but it doesn't violate privacy in the middle of a dense city. Like having a big open courtyard with the floor to ceiling windows facing inwards, or windows so high to the ceiling that all you see through them is sky. Frosted glass or gossamer curtains can also do wonders.

I'd rather be surrounded by dense bushes or nude men.

Our back yard is a jungle of native shrubs (particularly placed) and vines along the fence line to help with the general noise level but also the creepy crap of feeling stalked by everyone who walks down the alley.

Understand that I have neighbors who I like and we work together to watch the entire area where we live and we share things. like plants and beer. There are just so many strangers in our neighborhood in the past few years that none of us have the same old home town feel we used to enjoy. I generally do my patrols around four in the morning with a forty five auto in my butt crack and either a machete or a baseball bat and tactical flashlight in hand.

Ever since losing my fancy assed (eight hundred dollar) lawn mower and another neighbor losing her entire (very nice) lawn table and chairs and another neighbor losing a fairly cool expensive gas grille, we  (six of us) have begun a kind of "neighborhood watch"  thing  to patrol at night. We are all deadly if challenged. One guy just does his midnight patrol with a shoulder strapped shotgun, because he does not even give a fuck who knows what he is doing.

I keep things a little more quiet though. My machete is generally on my belt and I carry my bat just casually on my shoulder. No one even suspects that I keep an eleven round forty five auto on my buttcrack.

Neighborhood watch, Baby!

No. It's not a  "Make my day"  thing. It is more like a, If you are perusing our neighborhood at early morning hours, you had better have a good reason. You will be challenged and your license plate will be recorded. IF you are walking, then you had better know someone in our neighborhood.  Just standard neighborhood watch stuff, really.

Cops are on speed dial, if need be. Four of us have had training by local police for this task and we have shared with the other two. Only three of us have a concealed carry permit. The guy who patrols with a shotgun has a permit, but he HATES concealed carry. He thinks most problems can be stopped before they start by a massive show of force. I tend to use talking first, but I am only showing simple "middle aged" weapons, but ready to show a gang a surprise if need be.
In the eighties the whole "neighborhood watch" thing began but it was mostly in rich areas and performed by hired security.

This is OUR community and we, ourselves are making sure that it is as safe as possible and especially over the sleep hours. We have had enough of criminals in our safe hometown stealing at will. One older lady had her fancy little Shelty dog stolen. She saw it happen; nothing she could do. :'(

My front lawn is probably tinier than yours, and it's littered with cigarette butts.  :autism:

:zombiefuck:  I never really mind people smoking but I hate the way many smokers causally just toss the butts everywhere.

My front yard is just 54x20 and a bunch of that is driveway or sidewalk.  I find butts from the neighbors and people driving or walking by but not that many

Is that in feet, yards or meters?

My back yard is about 60m2. Part of it is shed, leaving about 50m2. Part of that is paving, part is garden, part is lawn. Really tiny lawn, but I do love the geen of grass. Do really want it to be there.

At the front I have no lawn anymore. Garden (bit neglected at the moment) and some paving. About 25m2 in total.

I do have a lot of hedge, compared to others in the street. I need to see green stuff. Otherwise I don't feel alive.

My tiny, tiny lawn does have a bit of a meadow vibe. With daisies, and other field flowers. The most loved probably a field cress called pinksterbloem. I skip a bit with mowing, every spring when it blossoms.

Stayed home today and worked on an assignment. Finished it at 10:30pm then went for a cruise to buy some takeaway.
It was super misty outside, plus I didn't have that much petrol so I didn't venture that far.

I think my yard is tinier than that.  The building is slowly going to shit.

Took out trash, cleaned, :laundry:

Watched the firemen clean up the wreckage from the accident in front of the house.  :zombiefuck:

Normally we don't have our first wreck out front until the road fest...we're about a week and 1/2 ahead of schedule.

Sorted 3 baskets of laundry into darks, blues and pinks.

Hand washed underwear

Broke my phone charger, fortunately was able to replace it at Best Buy at the mall.
Did a load of laundry that is now whirling in the dryer, two floors down.  Posted, finished my :coffee:

Worked in the office for the first time in a few weeks. It was nice for a while, until the guy in the opposite cubicle had a Skype meeting. Visited Foyles and bought a book. Had dinner at a pub.

Now sitting in the flat writing this while a maintenance guy is trying to fix the water heater.

I had a rare full on paced workday with lots of :hamsterwheel: and :GA:
Came home and tried to have a nap, but my head was still buzzing and my younger cat was being stupid.
