Got a further on track with the small garden of mine.
Had neglected it, so every week I work in it, till the green bin is filled to the max, and then I have to quit. Neglect was partly due to my former neighbours, who had not done a thing about their side of the hedge for a year. Took me and new neighbour five weeks to discard all that came off the back hedge alone, to bring it back to a reasonable height.
Gardens here are small. There is no space far away from a house. A big bonfire was not an option.
But, the bulk of all neglect and delay has now been dealt with. Bin will be emptied tomorrow. Time to start with the second clipping of the hedges at the front of the house. And time to order sand, to repair my sunken paving.
My new neighbour is as old-fashioned as I am. We tackle our hedges without power-tools. The rest of the street will be amazed to see that he is as bonkers as I am. (For over fifteen years several "neighbours" offered me the use of their power tools, every time I clipped my hedge.)
