It was only like 1m long. At first (walking without my glasses on) I thought it was a disposed piece of rubber, like from a delaminated bike tyre, but it was a little too wavy and slinky. It wasn't there when walked back past so I my eyes definitely weren't playing tricks on me.

Came across a red belly black snake. What can you do but keep walking.Wow! I have not seen a snake in the wild since I was primary school age, and I'm 50 now.
