That's nice coloring what type of plant was it? Does it get bigger? I know holly is very white and is used sometimes in carving

Um, bugger.. was afraid someone would ask that question for I don't know the plant's/shrub's name. Gonna go to fetch my big plant book downstairs now and post it later. (wish to know it's name myself too)

Mulberry has that look and was used a lot in mallets as it does not split easily

That's pretty cool, lutra. Are you going to make something with it?

Mmmm, cross posting.. (but think I answered your question in my reply to Parts below, EBM)

No, it's not mulberry but I cannot find the plant's proper name in my books either though. Well, not that it's that important now but I've been wondering about its name for longer and think the solution to find its name is next time I visit my plant supplier (= huge store) to look for it.

Don't think the branches will grow much thicker (diagonally) than 1 and 1/8 or 2/8 inch and there are too many 'disturbances' in the surface of the wood to make it good carving material. Might try some later.. not splitting it first then.

(um, bit too much blahiah for a little piece of shrub's wood maybe :nerdy: but hey.. )(I just like wood/working with it)

Maybe it would be good for something small and intricate. Like trimwork or a picture frame.

Yeah, a picture frame.. that's a good idea. Tx. A purely natural golden coloured picture frame could be quite cool, I'd say.

Hope the other branch bits are of decent quality. Going to look tomorrow.

Ah yes, the Tower of London.  Hope you got to try on some of my jewels.

The duck ponds with nice leafy green trees and snow :zombiefuck:

And Halloween themed ones
The spooky cemetery by the rail road track it goes back to the 1600's

And our Halloween decorations on the front lawn looks odd with the snow

Your front yard decoration reminds me of the phrase, "When Hell freezes over."
