3 letters: LSU

That's where I got my Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering.

I thought Auburn was your Alma Mater??

I got my BS degree in Chemical Engineering from Auburn, then I went to graduate school at LSU.

HA! the Auburn Staff knew what a troublemaker you were. :comrade:

It is considered better to get a graduate degree from a different university than the one from which you got your undergraduate degree.  I had excellent letters of recommendation and they offered me a graduate teaching assistanceship.

Nice cover story.   :smarty:

My professors at Auburn were the ones who wrote my excellent letters of recommendation.

I think it gives you a broader range of experience. If you stick with the same field at the same school, you might end up with the same professors as you had for your undergraduate degree.
You'll never self-actualize the subconscious canopy of stardust with that attitude.

Yes, and they also said that I was a good, bright, studious, hardworking student with a pleasant personality.

I think Pyraxis is correct.  Getting a graduate degree from a different university affords a broader education with new professors but it's more difficult than staying at the same university that awarded the Bachelor of Science degree, IMO.

I have a Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from LSU.

What field would you get the second degree in?

I feel drawn to studying Medical Imaging. It would be at a different uni. I wondered years ago about this but back then I had no hope of getting into uni. I found out recently about the Medical Imaging degree but am wondering if HECS would cover it. It depends on how much the degree will cost. HECS is a student loan system, where once a person gets a job after uni and they start earning over a certain amount, the tax office starts taking money out of their pay which pays back the student loan.

I do enjoy Psychology but have to face facts about how hard it will be for me to find a job in this area. I will get a Bachelor of Psychology but will have no experience in working with people. The only way to do that is to continue on to doing Masters where there is placement work as part of the course. But I don't know if I want to do that, I have heard that getting into the Masters course is competitive where I am and there are loads of people who have gotten better grades than me. Well I still have about a year and a half to figure this out.

Medical Imaging does sound cool.  Would the plan be to be a Medical Imaging specialist of some sort after you get the degree?

Of some sort, yes. I would like to work with MRI, PET or SPECT. It is a shame we don't have fMRI in Western Australia. Hopefully we will soon. No ultrasound for me!
