I don't have a problem with soldiers.  I was one myself.  Soldiers aren't stupid and
i'm sure a very few could make it.

I have a problem with the fastracking of degree's.

I don't think they're stupid but I severely doubt many of them have the necessary qualities (for want of a better word) to make decent teachers.
The main problem however is definately the fast tracking of degree's , that just pisses on everyone working for them AND makes them ill-equipped.

Heres an idea , let's drop the price of student fees and in-turn cut how much the MP's and PM are paid.  :zoinks:

Really? Cool.

How long were you in the army for? What did you do?

I was a Private in the British Army. I was in The Worcestershire & Sherwood Foresters which are now 'no more'  due to defence cuts.    Only lasted about 10 months.  I thought it would be 'good' for me, and can see why it works out for some.  I was not suited to it's discipline.  My Sargent used to say
I have a natural aversion to authority  :zoinks:

No room for individuals in the army.  It is the reason why it works.  I think teacher's should be
promoting individuality and also teaching kids to think for themselves,  which is why i am
a little alarmed to hear where the next teacher recruit's are coming from!

I think that was pretty :viking: of you. I tried to join the army when I was 18 but I failed the psych test. I wonder why. :autism:

I totally agree with that. I'd much rather have a child that could think for themselves, than a child with discipline who could follow orders.

Sadly there's a large portion of society who believe the complete opposite, and when something bad like the riots happen, it gives those people a chance to stand up and shout about children not being disciplined enough.
