I had half considered joining, just for the drama, but I know Id be well out of my depth because I know nothing about Manson.

Marilyn Manson = Mass-market "music" for supposedly "anti-conformist" kiddies by some crossdressing faggoth. That's all you need to know. :orly:

they are surprisingly non-anti-conformist, since the cor fanbase has "grown up" now, and found jobs (conformed) and the new fans look up to the oldies.
theyre quite lame really :]

MM only had one decent song, and it was a cover.

Oh, Marilyn Manson has a lot of good songs. Anyone who ever said they dont probably hasnt heard much. I admit I really didnt like the early 2000s Manson, and he lost my support for like 6 years.

I was like 14 years old when his first album came out, and lets just say he was ... calling to me. POAAF is still one of the best albums.

Most people know "sweet dreams" or "the beautiful people" or another one of his radio songs. Not too many people are even aware of his glam album ( his BEST album) or that he came out with 2 new albums in the last few years.

So when people say they dont like Manson I always ask, " well , have you LISTENED to Manson ? I bet the answer is either no or they heard one song.

He is genius :M

I agree, Ma is the best album. But i like the last 2 as well. the GAOG years kinda annoyed me though. Doing a cover of Tainted Love was just blech.

Holy shit. That guitar riff is so fucking generic, it's like I'm watching some toothpaste commercial or something!

Try again. :wanker:

You're right, I probably haven't heard a lot of Manson, and taste is speculative; Point is, if I'm trying to learn a song to play, I don't think there is much in the MM catalogue that would be easy enough to copy.

A couple of us (me on drums, a kid on guitar and another on bass) were jamming yesterday, trying to work out some stuff. Mostly AC/DC, G'n'R and stuff like Paranoid from Black Sabbath. We were also trying to get a 12 yo involved playing some AC/DC, but he'd need to learn how to follow what they are playing.

Shit, i've only been playing since Jan 09 and still have a lot to learn, but we didn't sound half bad.

One example was 'November Rain', which I'd only tried once before.

Why not just say conformist?

Non and anti used together are a double negative, and become redundant.

The more individual you are , the less you feel the need to tell everyone.
The less individual you are, the more self-concious you are and feel the need to say everything you dislike is the same and of "sheep mentality".

Does it even matter at the end of the day?

It's music , sure those who do it a little differently are more entertaining IMO , but why does everything need to be pushed into boxe of conformist or non-conformist?

It's fucking pathetic , that kind of bullshit is the epitmore of childish.

That's not directed at you btw Steve , just a general rant on the whole conformist thingy.

Thinking he maybe meant some of the members are nonconformist, but not against those who have conformed. So they're not really conformists, but at the same time not anti-conformist.

I think he means non-anti-conformist to make a statement. Meaning, we USED to be that way but we all grew up. So we arent "conformists" we just are not anti-conformist anymore. I like to speak for Zegh. It's fun.

And no manson isnt simple music. Quite complicated usually. The simplest songs are probably on Antichrist Superstar. Also his heaviest album.
