Mortal Kombat =

There's lots of half naked women if you don't like the gameplay.  :P

Personally I quite like it , I like the ridiculousness of it , logical games like fallout and etc never really held much interest for me.

I was never much for fighting games. I have the hand-eye coordination of a turtle. :dunno:

Honestly?

So do I.

I prefer MK to say street fighter , the controls are easier and you don't end up with blisters all over your hands for mashing the buttons rapidly.  :zombiefuck:
I'll just diagnose myself as Goddess of the Universe and have done with it. Hell with autism!  :green: :zoinks:

nice is just something written on biscuits.

games like Tekken i notice the "combos" are "guessable" often, you have to think "systems"

noobs often click the controls furiously and randomly,
instead, try to randomize a system into it, such as pressing buttons back and forth, up and down,
nothing is more hilarious than when your opponent _knows_ you dont play that game, and still you beat the shit out of him with noob-luck-combo after noob-luck-combo  8)

It is curious that no one mentioned games like "Planescape torment" or "Pathologic" or "the void".
They're weird.

I only played the first little bit of Planescape, though it was enough to see that the story was as good as people say. Couldn't get into it more because I had too much going on IRL.

BTW congrats on 10 posts, now you get to see the rest of the board.

I've only played a bit of Planescape: Torment too, also because I've been too busy with other things to devote more time to it.

I dont think that video games influenced me. I think the video games I like are because of my personality. That being said, Grand Theft Auto 3 is the greatest game of all time) I also like the Final Fantasy series and The Sims and Sim City. I guess these 3 games have been a reflection of my tastes. Oh, and I used the play Playboy: The Mansion all of the time. It's like The Sims with titties.

Simcity is good, but I found Simcity 4 onwards to be shit. I didn't like Sims 3 either, dumbed down and bogged with EA money making schemes.

One I'm currently really enjoying is Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Really like the art style and it's quite challenging for a modern game (most have been dumbed down to shit as of late). You can't go in guns blazing since it deliberately gives you fuck all ammo, so it forces you to use stealth and other creative methods. If you don't, you WILL die a lot even on easy. I don't like the regenerating console-twat health system though, although in all fairness the regeneration is quite slow and doesn't retract on the gameplay much. I will however consider Deus Ex 1 to be better when it comes to story.

Battlezone (1998), Urban Assault and Imperium Galactica have stuck in my mind over the years.  They all have serious flaws as games, but something about them just feels right to me, and I loved playing them when I first got them.

1. You've obviously never played Simcity 4 with mods (especially the NAM). Cannot be topped.

2. I think the entire Sims franchise is an incredibly shallow piece of shit to begin with.

None influenced me, as they weren't around until I was about 17-18. I do howver play heaps, things like Buffy (Chaos Bleeds), Ratchet & Clank, Burnout series etc.

The one I've been playing most, as you can tell by my posts in some threads, is Canis Canem Edit, or Bully. I have the PS/2 version, and don't really need the Scholarship Edition (doesn't exist for PS/2 anyway so ha) but I'm having shitloads of fun with this one. You can even have lots of fun once you complete all 100% of the game, just by mucking around in freeplay.

Bummer. Bully has only manual save at 6 points on the map (General Office, Boy's dorm, Basement Comic Store, Old beach-house, Blue-balls Pool Hall and factory next to Spencer Shipping). The Ratchet and Clanks have autosave at certain points, but if you load a game from the last save, you at where you last left your ship. The only save points in Buffy are at the end of each level. Makes it a pain when the game crashes at the boss area.

Simcity 4 was the same old shit with awkward bits bolted onto it (such as allowing your sims to live in it etc.) I was also annoyed that certain features such as automatically putting down lanes when zoning and so on, meaning any sort of half decent zoning strategies were thrown out of the window. If mods are needed to make it great, then I'm sorry that's not a good excuse for me.

Sims 1 was pretty good and Sims 2 is alright too despite EA really milking the fuck out of it with useless expansion packs. The issue is that they play on vanity since most players of Sims are female. Sims 3 really annoys me because they're making one pay for individual items AND expansion packs, along with EA's paranoid measures of anti-piracy.

Loved the SimCitys. Cities XL could be as good, but it just gets sooo slow by the time your city gets to a half decent size. The Tropico series is quite good, but the tiny population cap makes me want to scream. Still, Im downloading Tropico 4 at the moment.

Never really liked The Sims though. Dont think Ive played Sims 3, but didny like the ones I played. The only bit I really liked was building the house.

The Movies has a few similarities to the Sims, and I quite like it, although only in small doses.

If it weren't for the mods, SC4 would not really be worth playing at all. Maxis really did fuck it up with their idealistic bullshit (like having rich sims live in ghettos, hospitals in every corner, sims being extremely picky about their "commute times", this and that) and EA with their corporate horseshit (rushing the development, dropping the support after a few patches and an expansion pack), at LEAST they left it mod-able. Unlike any of the other SimCity games. So it can be half-way playable... half-way is only good enough because there are no other viable options at the moment. Nope, the city sim genre pretty much died after SimCity Societies.

As for the Sims... it just plain sucks. It's more of a poorly made digital dollhouse than a game or life simulation. The game is always advertised with the notion that you can build your dream house and you can have a bunch of Sims come over and party or something. Ironically enough, the parties always end up as a bunch of 1-on-1 sim conversations and a few other sims just dancing in weird places (like in the kitchen or bathroom when the radio is in the living room). Or they go play that computer in the bedroom without asking anyone or anything. I've seen a woman (in the Sims 3) walk into a library with an infant. She was nursing it, and then she just lays the baby on the floor and goes to read a book. (Which made me laugh out loud) So much for "Artificial Intelligence"... That's only part of the criticism I have for the Sims series.
