Cleaning out the closets (again) and other areas I haven't cleaned since before the second mouse visitation.
I'm bracing myself for something to come scurrying out at me.  I just have to do it and get it done!  :spaz:

Just stomp them. :P

When I worked on my college friend's father's apple farm, we went after the mice in our workboots. They are destructive in orchards and can kill a bunch of trees in a single season by eating the bark. So we were pulling brush and the others showed me how to get  them - basically you run after them and stomp them.

Years later I was in my colleague's office at Hunter College in NYC and a mouse ran out from somewhere. I was standing in front of the desk. Without thinking, I ran after it and stomped it. My colleague - a big black guy - was traumatized. He said in a high pitched voice, "Why did you do that?" It was force of habit. Here I go barefoot and the mice pretty much stay away from my feet.

Yikes.  I'd be traumatized too.  I'll just proceed carefully, and call my laid-back landlord if necessary.  :P

Also, today I will need to use the meat slicer at work, which I don't mind at all, but I hate the cleanup
because I'm so fussy that it takes me forever.  My boss could get it cleaned in 1/4 the time I take.  :tard:

:evilplus: Heehee, I think I do a better job.  I clean the blade by pressing the wet soapy cloth against it
while it's running.  That enables me to use the friction of the running blade to clean it more forcefully.
It's  perfectly safe if done correctly, but I'm the only one who does it that way.  I'm BRAVE!  :M

For the next 6 weeks, I have the workmen in my house. They turn up at 7am :zombiefuck: They go home at 6pm :zombiefuck: 6 days a fucking week :zombiefuck:

I make them coffee, and I don't like to leave the house while they're here :thumbdn:

6 weeks of getting up at 6:30am  (emo) going to bed by about 10pm  (emo) and barely leaving my house :zombiefuck:

This is intolerable :soapbox:

my father bought me one of those for my birthday years ago. he didn't like the manual one i owned. i touched the blade by accident and got a deep cut on my thumb. the guard wasn't that good. got rid of it and went back to my manual slicer, which went the way of the goodwill when i moved to florida.

Yes. The whole of the top floor is being re-done. That floor is a newer loft conversion, but it wasn't done to a very high standard. During the winter, it was freezing up there, and it turned out that there was barely any insulation. So, all the ceilings are being replaced and new insulation put up. A lot of the walls are getting knocked down, creating 6 big rooms upstairs, rather than a warren of tiny rooms.  Also, the top floor obviously needs completely retiled.

I'm also getting all the bathrooms throughout the house replaced, because they're all a bit old and ghastly. I'm getting the indoor swimming pool completely retiled, because people keep getting their feet cut

I'm getting another balcony created. It exists, but it was never finished, so there's no railing around it.

And I'm getting all the rooms that haven't already been replastered, replastered and painted.

I have to hang my washing. And then, much harder, I have to get myself to bed.

I am also having the munchies, and wondering if I should ignore that or not. :P

The going to bed is worse. But laundry, yes, it is the chore that keeps on giving. When I think I'm through it all, a girl cleans up her room and lo and behold, there is a new pile. And yes, I can be one of those girls, now and then.
