Well fed after a large salad: ham, turkey, cheese, sunflower seeds, broccoli, carrots, red onions, bacon, tomato, black olives, green goddess dressing.

Crap. Got some bad news from the surgeon today. What is it with me and getting really rare complications?

Feeling really shitty today.  I'm going to see my GP tomorrow to see if there's anything more that can be done while I'm waiting for an appointment with the next specialist.

I asked my mum to take me to the hospital since I was having a particularly bad episode and was finding it difficult to breathe due to the severity of the muscle weakness, and I thought it would be useful to get examined by a doctor while my symptoms were in full swing, but she'd been taking care of my sister's kids and hadn't eaten since this morning, so she was in a bad mood and decided that it was more important for her to cook and eat a stir fry and have a cup of tea first.  By the time she was finished, I was starting to feel a bit better and knew that I would likely feel significantly better by the time I was seen by a doctor, and since mum and her partner were still in low-blood-glucose fuelled bad moods and were making it clear that taking me to the hospital was very low on their list of priorities, I told them to forget it.

That seems to be an improvement :)

It's more that I'm too tired to cry anymore, and I'm just numb.

In a twisted way, I'm happy about the riots in London, I guess. The press will leave her friends and family alone.

That's sad that taking you to the hospital was low on your mother's list of priorities, but I'm glad that you started feeling better on your own, Peter.

Did you eat anything?

It's not that she doesn't care about me; I wasn't at risk of dying from it and I think she's just so used to me having these problems that when combined with low blood sugar and an exhausting day taking care of kids, she failed to take the situation seriously.

I didn't eat anything; it's difficult and requires an exhausting effort to chew and manoeuvre food into my mouth during those episodes, but the acute phase of the episodes usually only lasts for a few hours.

It still sucks, Peter. A few hours is a long time.

Feeling tired and restless and hyper, all at the same time.

My chest hurts. It's hurt since early this afternoon. Feels like there's something pressing on the middle, and like there's a hole in the lower centre left, just below the heart.

The saying that there is a hole in the heart after a severe loss comes from experience of severe loss.
