And I want Dox to hold me. I only bring him up because I haven't liked anyone else since.

Looks like you could do with a tight hug.

Sending you a virtual one, if you want it.

Thanks. Hugs are much appreciated by me.

I feel jealous because I aint in the hug. :violin:

You gave me a sweaty one last time. No hugs for you. :P

Tired, upset, confused. It's hard knowing things others don't and having to keep it to yourself, and figuring out what it all means.

Life is just pure strange. The last few years and what is happening now, just, unbelievable. Good and bad. Totally confusing all the same. I need someone with an eidetic memory on every religion and philosophy, so that I could understand life better.
How does understanding religion and philosophy equate to understanding life?

Because there are a lot of wise things said under both (major) subjects.

Both can be attempts to understand life and help finding meaning.
Both can be used to manipulate people into atrocities.

Studying the religions or philosophies may help understand things. But it is what people decide to do within the possibilities of those religions and philosophies that is what you will encounter.

Is it used for compassion and hope, or for hate and gaining power.

There are a lot of theoretical things said under both subjects. If anything, they muddy the waters and blur lines when attempting to have a better understanding of fact based realities in life.

Eh, I filter through what I believe to be wrong and pick out the good bits of both topics. I should have been clear on that. I don't just believe everything I read. :P A lot of religious text doesn't make sense to me, but there are still good bits. Regarding philosophy, not all of it is good either. I especially don't trust something also just because a famous person said it. Having said that, I think Hitler said some wise things, but obviously I didn't like most of what he said.

Regarding religious texts, I liked what John Cleese said, the man from a group who ripped the piss out of religion and the way people follow it to the letter. He said that religion often had very intelligent founders, but that people took what they said far too literally. I think Monty Python was great because it pointed out how people typically act and behave around different subjects (especially like sheep even if who they were following wasn't that bright, but they viewed them still as an authority), a major one being religion. I think the group of people behind Monty Python were very observant.

So it is more about finding words for meaning and understanding of life for yourself in an eclectic way, than trying to understand the world (and its people) around you?

It's sad that it's like a get-out-of-jail-free card for a lot of them. "I can treat people badly and be a total asshole...but it's okay...I'm a Christian."
