PA's ankle is not healing (after 8 months) and the doctor is talking bone graft. He's going to wait one more month to see what happens and then ask for our/PA's decision. But it has to be approved by the insurance company (of course it's most likely going to be approved.) And the recovery time is longer. I've done a quick peek on the subject and hope it will be with his own bone. But if it's not healing now, how well will it heal with bone from his body? And then what? Total ankle replacement? I'm awfully good at growing a fantastic crop of worries that are probably unnecessary. Why can't they try that electrical stimulator first?Their criterion for the electrical stimulator is 9 months without healing, unless it involves the spine. Whether that's significant, total, whatever lack of healing, I'm not sure. Also, since one of the pins broke inside the bone I'm not sure how that affects the whole ball of wax. However PA is just totally disgusted/discouraged with the whole healing process, not the surgery or the doctor. We're planning on calling the doctor next week when things settle down around here and ask a few more questions.
