Reading up on methods of synthesizing thiols (older name-mercaptans; R-SH, where sulfur replaces oxygen in an alcohol)
Not something I want to rush into without being prepared, as they have, in general, some of the most potently heinous stenches imaginable. Not generally dangerous compounds, just all-round awful. Haven't worked with them as such before, but I did once get an unwelcome taste (literally) of how bad some of them smell, after a reaction to a sulfur-containing anticonvulsant caused me to produce something of the ilk internally.
I ended up sweating, pissing, shitting, even salivating the stuff, no amount of showering or shower gel could get rid of it, I just had to wait it out, wearing the same clothes all the time, as the ones I had on, right down to the leather belt I was wearing at the time, all had to be scrapped, as I couldn't wash it out.
Members of the mercaptan group of compounds are the compounds used to add the stench to natural gas lines supplying houses to warn of gas leaks, and in skunk spray.
I'm sure I'll be a very popular neighbor in the event of any escaping
