PA managed to catch Hedwig and she is back in her cage.  He did sustain some minor injuries in the battle.  Evidently 2 ounce birds give 6 foot ex-weightlifters a run for the money.

I got home not that long ago, from picking blackberries. Only there are loads of nettles mixed in with the bushes. Absolutely masses of ripe, fat, juicy blackberries, some of them fucking huge, up to around an inch long, but often tucked away in the midst of a load of nettles. Got stung to fuck, all over my hands, and all the way up my arms, and over one side of my face. Little fucking cunting bastardlyshite things; I hate nettles.


At least though I managed to gather a great big bag full of some of the biggest, juciest, sweetest blackberries I have ever tasted, albeit at the price of a face full of nettle stings. Not quite sure what to do with them yet though. I've made plenty of blackberry pies over the last few years, so I'd quite like to try something new....but what...

Any suggestions, people?

I suggest making blackberry preserves. All you'll need is some pectin, some jars with lids and perhaps a bit of sugar. You'll find instructions online. I suggest using a recipe from an agricultural university, to ensure safety.

Cook them with sugar into a sauce.  Freeze and thaw.  Serve over ice cream, cake, etc.

Although there are plenty more where those came  from, I doubt I picked so much as a fraction of one hundredth of the available fruit. Only stopped because thorns ripped the bottom of my collecting bag, and by the time I got them home, had a fag, ate, etc. it got dark.

I'll be back, and thats just one of at least four extensive blackberry patches near me.
I still need to go to the patch of japanese wineberries that I know of, and also I recently discovered a fair few sea buckthorn bushes too, hopefully they will be bearing fruit round about now.

Another over-reaction on a mosquito bite. I used to be immune for them. Now I'm having my ankle on ice, and am happy to discover a bit of it's former shape again, after a day of cooling and keeping calm.

Although useless to me, thanks for the suggestion. Useless, due to the fact that I simply cannot BEAR wine, of any kind. The smell turns my stomach, and the only way I have ever managed to ingest wine, is by holding my nose, taking a shot of something strong to knock my sense of taste sideways, chugging it down, then following with more strong spirit, and chaser.
