Keep a plastic tote in back for stuff, whatever size will fit in your trunk.

Used to do that with my leaky VW...I use the huge ones in back of the truck on rainy days when I have to get groceries, and can't fit stuff in the cab.

Ergh. Similar happened to me when I got sent to a fake address to deliver pizza. I wondered what to do, then heard a party going on down the street, went there and offered the pizza to them. They weren't expecting it but they paid for it.
