Well, pretty sure I'm not that off thinking the incredible wet summer we had is a (big) factor of influence to praecox (um, pre-mature) fucking up quite a few of pears I bought this year. Have gathered a bit of experience eating them over the years and this year it's.. BAD.

And yes, you have a good point about storing them properly but do not have a cellar unfortunately. Ummm, outside? That's not a bad idea, in sept/oct/november provided they're protected from some animals, like insects or birds, or early morning frost.. that could help.

Funny, I was amazed about how good the pears were that I got. No brown inside at all, and very juicy and sweet.

No kid me? How many have you had this year, I'm wondering now. Well, of the over 30 I tried this year about half weren't that sweet or nice at all. Like a waste of money they were.

Not that much yet.

First batch, month ago, was a bit boring, hard, and already towards starchy. They were Triomphe de Vienne.

The Doyenné du Comice ones I had were good.

But the Conferences I bought now all are really good. Better than any I had last year.

I have seen none of them rotted from the inside out.

My daughter wrote two pages of material without saving, the computer crashed, and now it's MY fault. 

Of course it is your fault.

Without you, there wouldn't have been this computer, and she would have been using a sensible typewriter, making a carbon extra print at the same time.

I have pear trees in my garden and I picked a single remaining pear from one of them today.  The rest have all been blown off by the wind at various stages of development over the course of the year.

The plum tree in my garden only gave 6 or 7 plums this year. Could have been more and it looked promising at the end of spring but yeah, rough and wet weather this year's summer....

Well, the few I did pick tasted quite good.. better than the ones I bought. They tasted watery.

Fig tree still has over 100 little green fruits hanging in the tree. Picked none so far this year and that will not happen later on too. Shame.
