I'm Finnish. I just live in Sweden. The expressions I use in Finnish differ quite a lot from what whatever I use in Swedish, and the same is true when I speak English. Or German, or Spanish. Each language is its own, and my usage reflects my background, just as how you use yours reflects yours.

I do know "bloody hell" is British rather than American, of course, but it's also appropriate. It is what I use, given the right context. If my background was different I would likely have used something else.

I'll probably pause before using it again now.

Huh, interesting, I never knew that. Hearing an American say "Bloody Hell" I don't think would sound right to me though, even if you do use that idiom.

I wouldn't call it belligerent, it's more of a harmless swearword(s).

We all learn from somewhere, but there is also always a context. I like languages, always did, and I probably think about them more than most, but I also simply use them. If someone addresses me in one language, it's what I use in return. There's no need to transfer expressions from one language to another because their uses and contexts differ.

I know, it doesn't answer where I get an expression from. But where do you get yours? My English is the result of how and with whom I use it, the same as any other language I know.

I woke up feeling much better today so i went to the gym as I normally do on Tuesdays. And I'm still fine. What bad luck I had being unwell all long weekend!

We have pole light in our front yard and the recent storms have beat the crap out of it, blown the top off. I found the top though, two doors down.
It doesn't work anymore. I was hoping that the bulb was damaged and a replacement would get it going again.

I mean ir's a simple lamp that is outside. Should be easy, right?

I have checked everything and found that the "electric eye" which turns it off during the day and on at dark is shorted. This means that the thing always thinks it's daylight. It can never turn on, until I replace this annnoying "silly cone diode" as the asshole General always says in that old movie, "War Games."

I have found that Lowe's has them for about three bucks.

No reason to toil, just drive back into town and fetch one.
But, really, the fucking wind? Gimme a breeak!
