My bank just contacted me to tell me that my debit card was used fraudulently, and must be replaced. Sounds as if some person or persons hacked into computer systems of large chain stores and got a ton of numbers at once. Whoever tried to use my number, did so at a hotel at the other end of the country. Anyway, it was a small amount they tried to charge, and my bank blocked the transaction, so

Who buys something with a debit card for three cents? That seems automatically dodgy just by the amount, and should get flagged immediately by the bank's systems.

I knew that could not be right. I had my card shut down and they re-issued me another.AGAIN!!

It gets paid back too.
