They hardly ever prescribe anything here for flu. They will when there are bacterial complications, but not for the viral infection.

Unless the patient has lots of other stuff going on.

People at risk do get the chance to get vaccinated for free, every November though.

Made it's round here already I think. Kid had it the worst, but recovered quick.

They dole out Tamiflu like candy around here...it works (or so I'm told by MIL and SO)...but it's one that's hard on the liver. I normally just stay home and drink tea unless I think I'm really dying.

I haven't got it yet, but kid has it. Still waiting on some proper days alone since X-mas holidays. The days both kids were at school, I had to be out of the house.

So far youngest and I are still in the clear.

We got an email last week. School apologising for so many teachers being sick, and telling over 10% of the pupils is at home with the flu too. Nasty flu, one with higher risk for pneumonia.

Tamiflu they only hand out here to people who were really really sick and vulnerable before the flu hit them. Makes sense to me. Building up ones own defense system is not that bad.

I remember worse storms when I was a kid. But they never had mass shut downs and all these warnings of doom...people that couldn't drive in snow usually had enough sense to stay home.
