Late last night, my son had an allergy attack, presented eventually as a nose bleed that would NOT go away.
His face was severely puffed up and the lymph nodes in his throat were swollen, BUT his damn nose would NOT stop bleeding.
By the time {my wife, actually saved the evening, having a history of this sort of thing in her distant youth} it was finally stopped, my son had just but passed out with pain.
Fortunately, it was Dr. Martin Luther King day and there was no school. He slept most of the morning.
He seems fine now.
Hope you are OK as well.
Am ok now. I'm trying to get organized with as many immune-boosting things as I can find, so I can kick the rashes without having to drag my butt to the dermatologist whose staff got passive-aggressive with me last time I had a meltdown. I ended up in urgent care instead and they gave me steroids and antibiotics, but the problems tend to come back a few days after a course of oral steroids is finished.
So far I have Sambucol, lots of OJ, and silver solution to prevent topical infection. There's got to be more things out there.
While I was "gearing up" for my massive total hip replacement surgery, my doctor had me on a "negative" diet (meaning specific foods I HAD to avoid) and vitamin regimen, starting in October last year (no, I mean October, 2012), a full three months before my scheduled surgery. I was taking four grams of vitamin C per day, but also drinking a quart of fresh orange juice per day. I was taking a prescribed "B-Complex," but eating so many berries and greens every day that I felt stuffed half way before I had eaten all the naturals that were supposed to help make the contrived ones work better.
Once I was done with the surgery, I had a magnesium, phosphorus, calcium supplement with forty or fifty other micro-nutrients that was designed to help me grow bone mass over the implanted prosthesis. My surgeon had said that I will never feel healed until my own body encircled the prosthesis with living bone. He was helping my immune system be as strong as it could be and making sure that my body had everything it needed to get better.
I have not had any trouble with sicknesses of any kind in a long time. I can tell you that I have felt great this past year (except for the pain) as far as sleeping better, waking with energy, feeling my strength returning. It is just from taking a strict regimen of anti-oxidants, vitamins and (expensive, mostly) fresh raw foods.
While we mostly think of surgeons as more "sciencey" than nutritionists, this doctor has found reason to embrace both these schemes in the care of his patients.
I have little clue as to what your care may involve, but I fully believe that a proper (well tailored to your specific condition and needs) nutritional analysis and supplement plan over a few months could prove beneficial.
Maybe ask your dermatologist for a nutritionist referral? I do not know. I do know that the "science" of targeted nutrition is in its infancy, but I have become a believer.
Hope you do not have any more shitheads melting you down when you go in for their care.
