My Fluke multimeter is broken, why couldn't one of my cheep ones

Yes but I didn't break it, there seems to be a short in it somewhere. I went to use it but the battery was dead which was odd as I had changed it w few weeks ago, I put a new one it and nothing went to check the battery and it was hot as hell. I haven't taken it apart yet hopefully it will be something easily replaceable

You should probably check the fuse, though, before giving up on it.The one I have now has performed flawlessly for close to fifteen years.
