The Jag got flooded yesterday, in a car wash (really!), and died a few minutes after, in the middle of the road. The passenger footwell was soaked. We towed it home and I spent the rest of the day drying up the interior while trying to understand why the engine died. No clues yet.
Was that the first time it was washed?
No, not at all.
I've been investigating this and all kinds of fun things seem to have happened.
First of all, it turned out that there was a clogged drain right below the pollen filter inlet. This was why the footwell got flooded in the first place. The water had nowhere to go.
The engine wouldn't start because it blew a fuse for the ignition coil. The repeated attempts to start the engine then drained the battery. Once I fixed these, voilà.
Now the problem is that the key fobs need reprogramming, because of the power loss.
