I got my business line 12 years ago and the couple who had the number before either declared bankruptcy or where in the process of doing it  and owed a ton of money to all sorts of people who called at all hours.  Some of them accused me of lying about not knowing them and got nasty, we even filed complaints.  I even got one call so far this year for someone looking for them.  I would have changed my number but I had at the time already had business cards and advertising with it on it so I was stuck.

I got the number that had been the number of a cable antenna company before. Every minor disturbance in TV reception would get our phone ringing till it was sorted. Mad callers. Amazing how pissed people get when they cannot watch their soaps.
