I don't like to buy them in pieces. You never know how long ago they have been cut up.

Markets here often do have whole ones, in summer. And, I got lucky yesterday, bought a whole one at the supermarket, €3,49. Not bad, for supermarket prices.

Wow, that's a lot.

Think mine is weighing about 5 kg. So, about €0.70/kg. They now have 1/4 watermelons on offer for €0.99
