What pain meds are you on?
Here its bloody hard to get pain meds for dental pain, even in the most agonizing cases. I've twice been refused so much as a scrap of codeine when I had a severe dental abscess.
Depending on what you are on, you might be able to dissolve the painkillers in water and plug the solution. Take a shite first, to clear your arse out, and squirt it up. That route is effective for almost all opioids, except for the pro-drugs like codeine. Works for dihydrocodeine though.
It generally means the drug taken by the rectal route hits very quickly, a little slower than an intramuscular injection, but with not much lesser potency than an IM shot, and none of the health risks of using a needle for IM/IV use.
Not exactly the most delightful way to administer a drug, but it does work, and is much more effective for most drugs than oral use, as it bypasses first-pass metabolism. Which of course does mean that prodrugs like codeine that depend on undergoing first-pass aren't viable for this mode of administration.
It can make a hell of a difference though, for instance, when I was taking tizanidine (an alpha2 adrenoreceptor agonist, a relative of clonidine, although approximately 40x less potent as a hypotensive agent), taking the same dose rectally that just provided some decent muscle relaxation, and for that matter, calming, relaxing and sedative effects orally, literally knocks me out cold a few minutes later if its fed to the chocolate starfish
Toothache is the cunting well pits. Its one of those pains that just eats away inside a person IMO. And it generally doesn't ever get better without being treated. It can, but not usually.
Damn dentists here are tight bastards, and will leave you to suffer without the slightest pain relief usually. I had to go to my actual GP to get some, even though I had an abscess at the time that landed me in hospital, where I was told that I could have died.
