My car alarm sounded three times during the night, starting at 2am. I turned it off each time within seconds because I had my keys near me but seriously, what a pain in the arse. I'm sorry for the guy next door, who must have been woken up by it.

I need to work out why it's happening.

Thank you for that link. My key fob is about 2 years old. The old one practically fell apart.

It hasn't happened since. I've made sure the windows are wound up properly (nope, I don't have electric windows) as well as made sure the doors are closed properly. Usually if I don't close a door right and activate the alarm, the car emits 4 loud beeps.

Something I thought it might be is an insect flying around inside the car. We get a lot of moths here so maybe it's that? There's motion sensors on the front doors.

Whenever I park my car outside my sons business my car alarm won't turn off.  It happened three times always outside his shop, nowhere else.  So I changed the fob and it happened the next time I parked there.

One of his neighbours must be pumping out some serious RF.
