My knee again will it ever get better.  It popped twice loudly yesterday in rapid succession when I moved awkwardly to avoid falling over Max who is always underfoot.  I guess I shouldn't complain that much as I can still use it but I never know when it's going to give out

A great many of the younger generation don't seem to have the ability to improvise. 

Can't find a white skirt in December for your daughter to wear under the Christmas play robe?  Cut open the top of a white pillowcase, sew a narrow pocket the best you can and stick some elastic in it.  Problem solved with minimal cost and grief.

I made three holes in a green pillowcase to make a Statue of Liberty dress for my friend and a hole in a twin sized yellow sheet with a doorknob stuck through it to make a golden door costume for myself.  We stood side-by-side for the costume judging, I stuck out my arms to make a big yellow rectangle and she read The New Colossus which ends,

"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

We won the costume contest.
