I just have to get the oil changed again to the correct one ASAP.
The oil as it is would be too thick in the morning at start up, and not thick enough when the engine gets heated up (through erm 'spirited' use of the car).

The dealer purposefully put this oil in it turns out. They decided to deliberately ignore the manufacturers requirements and put this oil in because it's supposedly well performing in all the Mercs they service. They're too arrogant to admit it's the wrong oil and replace it.

It is supposed to be 0w40 but they put 5w30 in. It's a 6.4L HEMI V8.

My van takes an extra quart over what they give you in the advertised price and they charge me for it yet when I check after  it's always low,  it's one of the reasons I mostly do it myself on the plus side I don't even need to jack up the van so it's easy

Hint that you'll sue. They are supposed to follow the manufacturer's recommendations.

40 weight is heavier, might be harder to start in the severe cold weather sometimes...but WTF.

Take it back and tell them to change it or your going to stick a quart of 5w30 up their ass.

It doesn't get that cold here though. Whatever I like to cross my T's and dot my I's with this stuff.

Now to find the RIGHT oil. I mean I would have been complacent if they just put Castrol or Mobil1 0w40 in it for gods sake! (even though it's not to Chrysler's standard either). Chrysler recommend Pennzoil but you can't get it here in this particular weight. Amsoil seems to be more obtainable, even though I'll have to order it online (in quart bottles, 7 of them at $18 each).

I might have to buy the Mopar oil filters from the US :(

Meh, went with the Ansoil.

The filter (or plural of them, I might buy a few and store them away) I'll get on CarID maybe, until I find a better option.
