The Nova  episode mentioned the cathedral at Chartres, France.  Chartres is pronounced "shart."

I think that guy in the Finnish door video is the inspiration for the bobble head dolls.

CBC - you could always try to read Mont-St.-Michel and Chartres by Henry Adams.  It's in paperback and on Project Gutenberg.  I say try to read it because I've been dipping into it for literally years.  It has the Chanson de Roland in Old French, which I love to attempt to read aloud because Old French sounds fantastic, and never seem to get past that section.

Who said I wasn't autistic?

Old French, eh?  Does it sound very different from modern French?   :eiffel:

The way I read it it does.  A little less than the difference between modern and Old English.  It's funny to think of other languages having their Old versions to them.

No, that was a hypothetical question. I am not traveling to shart at this time.

:indeed:   Why travel to shart when you can shart at home for free?

:agreed: If one must shart than "Home is where the shart is" may be the way to go.
