  "Glauben heist nicht Vissen" ("Believing is not knowing").  I don't know how to  type the "s"
   the way they do now, he spelled it for me the way he learned it in his 1930's childhood.

What would you have done for the government?

  Classified government-type ... stuff.  I dunno.  Anything for the pension! 

FWIW, I generally hear that government jobs are fucking miserable to work at.  If that helps with the regret.

  Thank you, it does.  I'm really too young to retire anyway. 

Not with the current state of things... they're pushing for a lot of early retirement in government jobs right now.  Doesn't mean it would have necessarily been worth it, though, still.  The push for early retirement is putting a lot more pressure on the people who remain.

  I've heard of "redundancy" in jobs in other countries.  I've sometimes wished I could be made
    redundant and have a nice early retirement.     Is that how government jobs are?

Thinking about making myself a serving tray (for a couple of days now). Not that hard to make, you might think. Fair, but I won't allow myself to buy some new pieces of wood for there's too much 'rest' wood in the garage and carport already. Have to make due with what's there.
