Lestat lives in Manchester I think.
Sorry for answering for him, just wanted to add some info about our education system.
Here in Australia, they made it so that if someone wanted to leave school after Year 10, they had to have an apprenticeship, traineeship, TAFE (college) or a job to go to. Otherwise, they have to stay at school and do Years 11 and 12.
Ah! doctoring the unemployent figures
I see no point in making a kid sit at desk, if you're not effectively teaching them.
Personally, I was too much of a Spazz to take proper advantage of my free education opportunities. I was in a State Grammar School (shortly before they were were abolished , on that grounds that it wasn't fair to give intelligent kids any special schooling; the lucky sods already had a natural advantage, didn't they? Thereafter only rich kids were to have anything you could call an educational advantage, which, as everybody knows, is perfectly fair) . Anyways, I couldn't keep up, of course, so I had to have endless interviews with the Head, during which I was berated for "wasting my talents".
Nowadays, I consider myself fortunate for being unable to keep up, and for being unable to do the socialising thing properly. There's no option left but to become a free thinker, is there? It's pretty unpleasant being forced into being a free thinker, but it's a cool thing to be, once you get the hang of it
