You're right there, Adam.. Fr. government will stop referring women as mademoiselle. Think it makes sense too.
Of course folks in general can use the word still but that was spot on what I was thinking of when I posted that, maybe not too clear, post of mine.
We kinda had the same thing in Holland before (mevrouw/married and (me-)juffrouw/unmarried) but that died out after the 60/70s(?) here. First officially but gradually 'we' stopped using it pretty much so too. Well, some might still use it occasionally but.... officially it's 'mevrouw' in general here. Or some title thing like doctor, etc..
Wondered if that's going to happen in France also.
