Republicans have changed their stripes dramatically since the '50s!
It was General/President Eisenhower, a renowned Republican of old, who offered the concept that if we tax the most wealthy at the highest rates, that will lead to the largest, most profitable corporations and individual entities investing more into research and development moving industry forward, increased wages for the workers to help in escaping tax burdens, greater charitable donations to non profit organizations including housing for the less capable, medical and health resources advanced, parks and wildlife services fully funded, and in general, Taxing will keep that money right here at home working to move our nation forward.

Check the differences in income tax averages for the very upper wealthy from the '50s compared to current times.
It is no wonder why the BIG money is being exported, all the while we are in debt up to our great, great grandchildren's eyeballs.
Not 100% sure the current reflects accuracy, but the trend is obvious.
