I think my son wants to go hunting.
He has bought himself a huge Bowie knife based kit, a hatchet, some camping gear, including sub zero sleeping bag, survival necessities, including good boots and some thermals.
For Father's Day, he got me an awesome, real, mansized skinning knife, better than the one I made out of a German kitchen blade many years ago. I asked if he knew what this blade was made for. He said he knew it was for game.
I might need to look at licensing for the fall. It's been seven years since I took deer and filled the freezers.
He and I have talked about it for a while.
This has come out of the blue.
I mean we always talk about stuff and he has become a proficient and safe weapons handler, but he still can't shoot for shit. That takes time and experience.
I thought maybe my buying this slug gun made for hunting deer might have changed something, but his mom said he bought that skinning knife for me while I still had my cast on my arm, three months ago
We need some more range time before he is ready to kill! Also, you have to break something gentle inside you before you can do this for real. It's not easy!
But now he seems to be making preparations for an outing. I need to quit screwing around with my music stuff and give his needs some attention.
