I'm happy with the Midwestern United States because it's what I know... It is what I grew up in, yet sometimes in life changes may happen... and I need to be prepared.

I've been in the Chicago Area since I was at least 5 years old, it's what I know... it's what I am familiar with besides Kansas City, and being overseas.

I spent 5 years in Nebraska and I wouldn't live in the Midwest again unless I was paid well into the 6 digits to do so.

You have tornadoes, floods and hot & muggy weather in the summer, then polar vortex blasts of freezing cold in the winter. Not to mention asshole rednecks year round. And if you're near Chicago, you can throw in ghetto thugs to boot.

Personally I need to live in the mountains. Where I'm at rarely gets above 100F in the summer (with low humidity mind you) and rarely drops below 0F in the winter. Most of the year the weather is fairly pleasant and we're surrounded by mountains, forests, rivers and lakes. When you add in 36 local breweries and legal pot, it makes it a pretty nice place to live.   8)

That I should put a load of towels on to wash.  Should get the garbage out since tomorrow is pick-up day.

Critters getting into garbage bins around where I live tends to look like this:

Most bizarre incident tonight.  Amber comes out of her room saying that there is some guy outside our duplex yelling "Help me".
Of course, my first thought was that it was her ex-boyfriend.  So I say, "call the cops", which she does and I go downstairs to our front door to make sure it is locked.  Turns out that there is a truck, with some guy yelling outside our neighbors door.  The dispatcher tells Amber that somebody has already called and that the cops are already on their way.  3 cop cars show up, (I should add that we live on an isolated stretch of a hill and driveway.)  I turn on our porch light and look warily outside, the cops are talking to him and a woman, next to a truck with Massachusetts license plates.........WTF.  I watch as they try to talk him down.........next an ambulance shows up and they have restrained him and are dragging him to it.  The woman is apparently HIS MOTHER.  I call out is "Everything all right"  , thinking its our neighbor talking to the cops.  WRONG, the woman walks towards me and says, "I'm sorry, my son is having a breakdown."  I tell her to stop and not come any closer.  I have no idea wtf this is about and why a truck with Mass. plates is in our driveway and why this psycho came up here.  I hear words like, "marijuana" and such and I get back inside and slam the door and lock it.  Fotunately, they leave except for one cop car who stays behind and I guess tries to talk to our neighbor, who is a mother of a 3 year old AND an ex-marine.  And her husband is also a marine and now a Navy recruiter.

Why this psycho asshole, maybe high on synthetic pot, is in our area having a "breakdown" and from Massatwoshits....is beyond me.   :hide:

I had to google "cheesehead". It sounds like an STD or something.

No they're residents of Wisconsin. Wisconsin is about 2 hours and 6 mins away from my parents house.

I'm starting to think my HBQ (hogs bristle qtr) shade for the walls looks a bit too blah for the downstairs area.
Maybe I should play it up by painting two of the opposing smaller walls white and just put the HBQ on the longer side walls.

On a related note my super white ceiling looks really nice.

Or I can DIY mix some hogs bristle one-eighth (I actually made a small sample a while ago and it looked really nice).
It's just a matter of getting the ratios exact.

Cool, so you're painting again. :)  I've never painted ceilings but i have painted walls. In the flat I used to have, the walls were peach when I moved in so I didn't put up with that for long. I painted the lounge room pale blue with a dark blue feature wall. Looked good with my wooden bookcase. I miss that flat.
