Grandma got molested at the airport

An elderly woman in the late-stages of leukemia was forced to undergo 45 minutes of additional screenings last Saturday when she tried to board a flight out of Northwest Florida Regional Airport, her daughter told FoxNews.com

Lena Reppert, 95, was to say her final goodbyes to her daughter before she made what would most likely be her last flight to her native Michigan. After eight years of battling leukemia, doctors say she doesn’t have much time to live.

“She said she wanted to be closer to her grave,” Jean Weber, her daughter, told FoxNews.com. “I knew it would probably be the last time I ever see her.”

But when Reppert made it to the check-in line, Transportation Security Association agents singled her out because she was in a wheelchair. Wheelchairs require other security measures to be employed since they don’t go through metal detectors.

“So they brought my mom to the side, and two agents just started patting her,” Reppert said. “Eventually they found something that appeared to be hard and they said could be a concealed weapon.”

She said two female agents wheeled her mom into a private room where they performed a more thorough inspection, and found that Reppert was wearing a Depend adult diaper.

“It was hard because the underwear was bunched up,” Weber said, adding that she was not in the room as her mother was patted.

After 45 minutes, the mother and daughter were given two options: either don't fly, or lose the Depend. The women chose the latter.


“I ran with her to the bathroom and stripped her down,” Weber recalled. “I got back to the line and just started bawling.”

Weber said the emotional toll was too much. From perhaps seeing her mother for what could be the last time, to having to see her mother go through all the security measures, “I just cried and said, ‘Please can you let her through, she’s just so sick,” she said....

They are out of control and what really have they accomplished?  Prevented hijackings? I think not unless some little kid or grandma was going to perform them. The underwear bomber walked right through and nobody is stupid enough to try and hijack a plane with the little knives and such they used on 911 anymore they would be killed by the other passengers. Only reason that worked at all was nobody ever deliberately crashed a plane like that before. They are a failure.

The list of examples goes on and on.  They are not there to stop terrorists they are there to make it look like the government is doing something and if they happen to catch a terrorist great but that is not the primary objective.

They have supplied us with terror because of US terrorism. But, yeah, they're not going to stop imperialism in their lands. I think their main goal was to stop the US from going on their "crusades" in their lands, but it failed. At least it did cost Americans an additional shit load of money to annoy these guys some more. The US can't afford to keep this up for much longer.

And now our country is so paranoid, security has gotten crazy at the airport. Not only that, it has effect federal and government buildings too. But yet when Timothy McVeigh did the bombing, it didn't cause security in the federal buildings like airports have. But I don't think it's as extreme as the airports are. It took until 9/11 for all this to happen and it's the same in the UK too.

Apparently Grandma had peed in the diaper so it had that bump that diapers with superabsorbent material get when the superabsorbent polymer expands as it absorbs liquid.

I think making her either remove her diaper or not fly is unconscionable, but if you ever need to travel with one for either yourself or your baby, make sure you have some spare dry ones on hand.

Imagine what's going to happen when the 95 year old grandma with leukemia who has to ride in a wheelchair, BTW, can't hold her pee on the plane and is flying without her Depends.  It would be humiliating for the grandma and I know I wouldn't want to sit in that seat after her for the next leg of the plane's journey.

The way that woman has been treated is horrible.
Yes, if you want to check all people, you have to check elderly people and babies too. But telling them not to wear their underwear is absurd.
