IMF chief jailed
« on: May 16, 2011, 04:41:08 PM »
Quote
NEW YORK – Haggard and unshaven after a weekend in jail, the chief of the International Monetary Fund was denied release on bail Monday on charges of trying to rape a hotel maid as allegations of other, similar attacks by Dominique Strauss-Kahn began to spill out.

In New York, prosecutors said they are investigating reports of at least one other case. In France, a lawyer for a novelist said the writer is likely to file a criminal complaint accusing Strauss-Kahn of sexually assaulting her nine years ago. And a French lawmaker accused him of attacking other maids in previous stays at the same luxury hotel.

What the fuck did he think he was to important to get in trouble?  They pulled him out of first class on a plane at the airport that must have been a scene.  It's amazing he reached such a high level position without any problems.

Heard it on the news but know too little about it to make any judgement. Going to read the articles about it in my morning paper.

Would be really stupid if he did do what he's accused of. (his position/job with that kind of power can seriously 'megalomane' someone though)

News channels now mentioning something that the bail of $1 million was denied by the court.. and that he's being brought to Rikers Island's prison 'till Friday too.

Man, I now think he's probably pretty fucked. (but?)

(um but, bet this will be solved in the back rooms probably)

Now I'm reading that the French media is questioning their own self imposed 'code of honour' due to what's happening with this Strauss-Kahn scandal. Code is, to not write about affairs, sexual escapades and even financial stuff that the French 'white collar' elite 'misbehave'.

Wut? Wait? In France the media don't surface stuff like that? Jesus Christ, those fucking double faced sneaky Catholics again.

Sneaky Catholics   My brother in law and I used to use that term.  I was raised one but am better now .  The French always seemed to me to be very elitist only really met one I got along well with.

"Sneaky Catholics"  is an expression I have never heard before, but being the daughter of an old-school Irish Catholic
catechism teacher, I suppose I wouldn't have heard such sentiments in the home while growing up.  :zoinks:

There were priests in my family too, on both sides.  We kids went to Mass on every Sunday and every holy day of obligation.

My Grandmother on my father's side with probably one of the strictest Catholics I have ever known she was a true believer.  She more than anything is what kept the family in the church.

She was very angry back when I got married as my wife is not catholic and we didn't have a priest marry us. She would have been 111 two days ago it was another world when she was growing up.  Everyone on my father's side of the family was pure Irish Catholic to the point some still could speak Gaelic but that was back when my father was young.  My mother's side was a German and a English/Irish/Dutch mutt
