The Millerites went though this back in the 1800's a couple times people sold all their belongings and everything only to have the date come and go be recalculated and pass again.  They went on to become the base for the Seventh-day Adventist another wacky group.  You think people would have learned

Yup, and they cleverly changed the meaning of 1844, saying something changed in heaven then, as a preparation for the last day to come, adding that no one will know that final date but the Lord himself.

Don't know what the Jehova Witnesses thought up to cover it, they have their base in the Millerites too.

There's also some verses which are interpreted as meaning the chosen are to know the date, thus the verses about no one knowing are meant of everyone else.

I have been informed by the Great Billboard God that  Judgement day is May 21 of this year.

I saw these on my trip to Florida but now there is one in my town.  People are apparently going nutty for this and really believe it.  Peoples gullibility  never ceases to amaze me.

So when the world ends on the 21st (or sometime in 2012, or whenever), is it gonna be the fall of the human race, or just civilization?  Are we gonna have that whole post-apocalyptic world war where it's every man for himself for a few centuries, or is everyone just gonna be dead all at once?
